Judyta Zimmer "Duszka" - born in 1908 in Złoczów (now Ukraine), in 1930 goes to France to begin medical studies. While there, she joined the Communist-affiliated Federation of Students and the French Communist Youth. After finishing her studies, in February 1937, she arrived in Spain to support the Republic in its fight against fascism. She works as a nurse in the hospital of the 45th Division of the International Brigades in Mont-roig del Camp, Catalonia. At the same time, she holds the position of secretary of the Communist Party board at the hospital. Her fate after the withdrawal of the international volunteers from Spain is unknown.
